Polls, Donations, etc.
Editorial Board  [posts]

Free Thoughts on Iran has made some additions!

There is a new polling capability added to the web site. You can see the first poll already set up on the right column. Once you vote you can see the results and you can't vote more than once from the same computer. You would need to enter a 5-digit code as well so that we can know that it's not a machine pretending to vote. We encourage you to take part in the polls to give them as realistic an outcome as possible. Although online poll results are not trustable in the way scientific ones are, but they have some limited uses, and above all they are fun. Hopefully we'll have some more on the way. So, make sure to make your voice heard.

Another addition to the right column is a donation button. FToI is run entirely by volunteers. So, your kind donations can help us greatly in keeping the web site running. Click on the "Why Donate?" link below the button for a little more on why it is so. The process is taken care of by PayPal and you will need to set up an account with them. They say it is industry-leading secure and as they are so successful there is good reason to believe them.

A change in the design of the Linkdooni is also made recently. The links' descriptions now appear underneath them and the pop-up title now shows when the link was created.

We hope these additions and changes give you a better experience here at FToI. If you have any comments, suggestions or criticism, please refer them to the editors at e-mail or leave a comment on this entry. Thanks!

I find myself obligated to donate some money as soon as I get out of debt. (Having been out of a "real job" for a while, I've maxed out a credit card already, going on to the next.) After all, for about a year, FToI was a very hospitable place for me to let out my frustrations, as well as share my ideas with the rest of the usual suspects.

It would be nice, however, to see how the donations are spent. I'm thinking of a pie chart, like the ones charities mail you...

This is a good idea and we've been thinking about it too. Hopefully we will soon set up a way of letting our donors (and perhaps the public too) know how the donated money is helping us, or in other words, spent. Thanks!
